The Yummy Fruit Company Continues to Lead in Eco-Friendly Practices with Purfresh Technology
Top apple producer in New Zealand deploys Purfresh Cold Storage to reduce decay and control ripening naturally
Fremont, Calif., USA & Hawkes Bay, New Zealand – April 6, 2010 – Purfresh, a provider of clean technologies that purify, protect, and preserve our food and water, today announced that The Yummy Fruit Company, a New Zealand-based grower and packer, has integrated Purfresh® Cold Storage as a key component of the company’s strict environmentally-friendly, post-harvest processes. Purfresh’s intelligent atmosphere solution, which incorporates ozone-based technology, preserves produce quality and extends the shelf life of Yummy’s Braeburns, Galas, Pink Lady, and Granny Smith apples by reducing decay and controlling ethylene levels in its storage rooms—all without the use of chemicals.
“Over the 30 years we have been in business, we have focused on delivering fresh, high quality, excellent tasting fruit to our customers, and Purfresh helps us met our high standards in an eco-friendly way,” said Mr. Paul Paynter, general manager of The Yummy Fruit Company. “Our commitment is further enhanced by Purfresh’s state-of-the-art clean technologies, helping to protect the quality of our apples.”
